So It was ten days between blogs and ten seconds between these two.  I just got a very cool e-mail from a true friend.  You know one of those people who you can talk to and not matter where you are connected socially you still stay connected.  It just makes me thing about the kind of friend I am.  I know we all want them but there is a give and a take.  I am making a new commitment to my friends to stay in contact as much as I can regardless of my schedule or my business.  I truly think this is what pleases God and that is my first priority.  Jesus was the ultimate friend and he didn’t just rely on the other people for communication it was a give and a take.  So I challenge all who have friends be the best friend you can be.  Take time to shoot them an e-mail or have lunch or something with them.  You won’t regret it!!!

It has been another couple of weeks.  I need to get better about doing this blogging thing.  I have been really busy.  Yesterday was a fun day for me.  I had the chance to speak at my home church and it was a great day.  The attendance was awesome but the best part is that God really spoke thru me to others.  What a great thing to be used by Him to impact His kingdom.  I hope to have more and more opportunity to speak because it is a real passion of mine.  I was reminded yesterday about how God cares for everyone and can meet all of our needs.

It has been forever since I have done this.  I have been so busy I am in like a three week run where I will sleep in my own bed like 4 nights!!!!  I am in Colorado Springs for a ministry conference.  I have never been one to study songs for there correct theological content but today a song was sung that said “God give me strength to make it through today”  It made me think that the bible promises that God will supply all of our need and more.  He can give us way more that we need to just make it one day.  It makes me feel good to know that no matter how many billions the government spends and no matter how tough the things in the world are God is more than enough.  Then there was a line that said “When you caused my world to crash around me”  God doesn’t cause our problems!!!  Our issues come from us living in a fallen world they are not His fault.  God loves us so much.  Anyway those are the thoughts that are going on in my head. On another note I am getting ready to officially start writing my first book!!  I have like 5 different books that I want to write and it is time to start.  I had a really good friend one time say something so profound about church it has driven me to write a book about why we go to church.  I don’t if anyone even reads this but if you do and would like to help me e-mail me your answer to the following question.  Why do you or don’t you go to church?  It is that easy you can send your answer to jeff.kirkland@peopleschurch.com

This is becoming a once a month thing.  I intend to get to this more than that so I will be making a better effort.  My last seven days have gone like this.  Monday the 13th we had to put one of our dogs peaches down.  She was 15 years old and was not healthy enough to go on.  After that my wife took me to the hospital because of pain in my hip.  We thought it was kidney stones which I have had but it wasn’t and now we are in the research mode.  At the hospital they gave me to much pain medication and that made me sick!!  On top of all that I had a sinus infection.  So then on Friday I was at home working on my truck and I opened a cabinet door in the garage and a shelf fell dropping a toolbox on my face leaving a nice beauty mark.  What a week!!!  I am not writing all this for someone to feel sorry for me.  I think in everything there is a learning opportunity.  After all this the words that have been ringing in my mind are these.  My yoke is easy and my burden is light.  Find rest my soul and surrender all.  I just have to remember that he has told me to cast all my cares on him and leave them there.   On another note if you go to church somewhere remember it is Pastors appreciation month tell those guys you are thankful for all that they do and remember they do many more things than you can see.  If you don’t go to church anywhere visit somewhere sometime.      So today is a very important day in my life.  19 years ago today I was on a bridge that collapsed and I fell 60 feet with the bridge then landing on top of me.  It is by the grace of God that I am alive.  I have been thinking today about why we live?  Why am I here?  Big questions I know but some of the answers are simple and some are not so simple.  I know that my main reason for living it to Love God and show others His love.  There are a ton of ways to do that.  There are even some people who stand on the street corner and yell and people and tell them they are going to hell if they don’t get things right!!!  That is so not me.  I want people to know that I care about them.  Some of them might go to church some might not.  Some might have money some don’t.  Those things don’t matter.  I want people to know that if you are my friend I will be your friend no matter what.  If you don’t go to church I will not pressure you to go.(Don’t get me wrong I want you there not for me but for you) If you are some big important person that is great and if you aren’t so what.  I want people to know it is my pleasure to be a part of your life.  I also want you to know that I care about there eternity.  Anyway all of this is just kind of ramble and random but might mean something to someone.  I am by no means perfect and never will be but I am glad God loves me and that He has given me LIFE.      On another note today is the start of the NBA season and I am stoked.  Of course the Lakers are my team with the Warriors a close second and this year I will even cheer for the Blazers cause they aren’t a bunch of idiots anymore.  Should be a good year.
